Kayla Dorsey Twumasi
Director

 Greeting AISL Families,

I hope your vacation was spent with your loved ones, and engaged in activities that fill you with joy. I arrived in Maseru from my home in Massachusetts less than two weeks ago, and received the warmest welcome from the AISL community. I am honored to have been selected as your new Director, and am excited to partner with you, our talented faculty and staff, and our Governing Board  to serve our 109 students who represent 19 different countries for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year.

Director’s Entry Plan:

As I enter the AISL community, I invite you to help me learn as much as possible about AISL—its institutional history, culture, strengths, and the opportunities and potential for growth that lie ahead. My chief priorities in these first 90 days are to build trusting relationships, maintain a safe learning environment, and to gather as much information as possible to inform action steps. To assist with this process, I have developed an Entry Plan that will allow me to listen to the many voices (student, parent, faculty and staff) at the school, learn from all of you, and allow you to get to know me. In the upcoming week, I will share a survey, and a series of meeting dates whereby families will have an opportunity to meet with me informally to ask questions and offer feedback. I will gather this feedback,  which I will later report out to the whole school community for us to explore together in the upcoming months.

A Little About Me:

I was born and raised in Utica, New York, and over the last 10 years have made Massachusetts home with my husband Nokio, daughter Kingsley,  and our dog Koko. My daughter is eager to join Pre-K at AISL. My career in education spans 15 years, and includes middle and high school teaching, and school leadership and district level leadership positions. I strongly value access to high quality instruction and programming, global citizenship, and empowering learners to be agents of their educational trajectories. I look forward to sharing more about myself with you as the year progresses.

Thank you in advance for your participation and commitment to my entry  process, which will lay the foundation for what I intend to be a fruitful tenure as your Director.

In partnership,

Kayla Dorsey-Twumasi (pronounced chew-may-see)
